Ingredients

  • 4 large apples (Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (25g) rolled oats
  • 4 tbsp (55g) butter, softened

Directions

    Heat the oven to 375°F and line a 2-quart casserole or 9x9-inch pan with foil. Core the apples without piercing the bottom (leave them unpeeled) and set them cored-side up in the pan. Mix the sugar, cinnamon, and oats, then heap and pack the mixture into the apples. Top each with 1 tablespoon (15g) butter. Pour water into the pan to about 1 inch deep. Bake 60–70 minutes, until the apples are tender and slightly collapsed.
