Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • few grains cayenne pepper
  • 2 egg yolks, beaten slightly
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

Directions

    Mix the dry ingredients; add the egg yolks mixed into the milk. Cook in a double boiler (or a good pan if you stir well). When thick, add the vinegar and butter. Mix well and cool. Makes 1 1/2 cups.
